Welcome to Parks & Recreation!
The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department is a department of the United City of Yorkville. What does this mean? The Parks and Recreation Department is operated through the taxes you pay to the City and are considered one of your City services. I hope you have been able to enjoy one of our nearly 250 programs or visit one of our 33 parks in the City!
Uniquely Themed Parks
Many of the parks are uniquely themed - we have a music park, space park, farm park, transportation park, civil war themed park, treehouse themed park, and gladiator park, just to name a few!
For the more adventurous type, try out the Marge Cline Whitewater Course where you can learn or practice your kayaking skills! Rafts, tubes and stand up paddleboards are also available for rent - and the park is always open for picnics or lunch or a snack at one of the shops on-site.
Programs
The Recreation Department has many programs to enrich your child's world such as dancing, music, and numerous sports leagues, as well as classes for adults. Our popular men's softball league runs in the summer and fall. Please check out our latest
catalog for all that we offer!
Events
The Parks and Recreation Department also sponsors many events including Wine'd Down Wednesday, 5K runs, River Fest, the Halloween Egg Hunt and our ever-popular Hometown Days Festival. Come out to one or try them all!
The Park Board members and staff look forward to seeing you throughout the year!
