INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE
Tuesday, July 4
Grab your chairs and get ready for a fantastic time at the Yorkville Independence Day Parade on Tuesday, July 4! The parade begins at 9am starting at the Yorkville High School and ending at Town Square Park.
Parade Route: Game Farm Rd, Somonauk Street, Church Street, West Main Street, and the parade will end at the water tower. View the Parade Route Map for more details!
Parade Floats: Those looking to enter a float in the parade do not need to inform the committee of their participation prior to the parade. All participating floats should arrive at the Yorkville High School the morning of the parade starting at 7:30am for line-up with the parade starting at 9am. All floats are welcome! Floats with a patriotic theme are encouraged! Parade walkers are permitted in the parade and are asked to keep up a reasonable pace so as to not stall the parade.
Additional Information: Throwing candy from parade floats is not permitted. Candy may be passed out by those participants walking the parade route. Streets surrounding Town Square will be closed to traffic and parking during the parade and celebration.
TOWN SQUARE ACTIVITIES
Tuesday, July 4
The activities begin immediately after the parade and end at 1pm and will include children's foot races, bounce houses, and a performance by the Yorkville Community Band. In addition to activities, food and drinks will be available for purchase at Town Square by local vendors.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the Town Square Activities. Please consider donating a bit of your time to help keep this long-standing tradition going. For more information or to sign up to volunteer, contact Steve Redmon.
INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS
TUESDAY, JULY 4
Join the United City of Yorkville in a spectacular Independence Day Fireworks show on Tuesday, July 4! The fireworks will begin at dusk and will be shot off near the corner of Rt 47 and Countryside Parkway.
Please note that Countryside Parkway will be partially shut down west bound between the Hampton Inn and Goodwill and East Bound between the Hampton Inn and McHugh Rd. Access to Goodwill and the Hampton Inn will not be obstructed.
FIREWORKS VIEWING PARTY
Yorkville American Legion Parking Lot (9054 E Veterans Parkway, Yorkville)
Looking for a great place to watch the Yorkville Fireworks? Head over to the Yorkville American Legion to secure one of the best spots in town! Open to the public. Yorkville American Legion is located at 9054 East Veterans Parkway, Yorkville, IL 60560.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All Independence Day activities are free to everyone, except for food and drink purchases, and are subject to change without notice.
IN CASE OF RAIN
The Parade, Town Square Activities and Fireworks are rain or shine events and will continue as scheduled unless lightning/thunderstorms or extreme rain is present. Please check the United City of Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department's Facebook page for weather related updates.
