Athletic Leagues

Yorkville Parks and Recreation offers many adult and youth leagues throughout the year. Listed in this section are the leagues that are offered along with contacts for other sport organizations within the community.

Additional league information is available by contacting the Recreation Office (630-553-4357) or referring to the current catalog. Online registrations are limited and not always accepted for adult or youth athletic leagues.

Basketball Registration


Kindergarten Basketball

This league is designed to teach kindergartners the fundamentals of basketball. Skills that will be focused on include dribbling, shooting, passing, offense, and defense. Each team will feature a 45-minute practice in the evening. Each Saturday will feature a game against another team in the program! Program registration will be available September 24th-October 5th online at www.yorkville.il.us/register , in person at Yorkville City Hall (800 Game Farm RD, Yorkville), or by calling 630-553-4357.

1st-4th Grade Basketball

These leagues are designed to teach and improve the fundamentals of basketball. Each league will focus on and solidify the basic skills of basketball, basketball strategy, and good sportsmanship. Leagues are available for grades 1-2 boys, 1-2 girls, 3-4 boys, and 3-4 girls. Practices will be held once per week at night (Monday-Thursday) with the day and time dependent on the coach. Registration will be available online at www.yorkville.il.us/register, in person at Yorkville City Hall (800 Game Farm Rd, Yorkville) or by calling 630-553-4357. The registration period will be September 25th-October 5th.

5th-6th Grade Basketball

These leagues are designed to improve and perfect basketball fundamentals. There will be a 10-game schedule and a season ending tournament. Practices will be held twice a week at night (Monday-Thursday) with practice days and times dependent on the coach. The majority of games will be held on Saturday with a few week night games as well. Girls only and boys only leagues are available. Registration will be available September 24th-October 5th online at www.yorkville.il.us/register, in person at Yorkville City Hall (800 Game Farm Rd, Yorkville), or by calling 630-553-4357. 

7th-8th Grade Boys Basketball

This league is designed to improve and perfect essential basketball fundamentals. There will be a 10-game schedule and a season ending tournament. Practices will be held twice a week, at night (Monday-Thursday) with the day and time dependent on the coach. The majority of games will be held on Saturdays with a few week night games as well. Registration will be available October 22-November 2 online at www.yorkville.il.us/register, in person at Yorkville City Hall (800 Game Farm Rd, Yorkville) or by calling 630-553-4357.

High School Boys Intramural Basketball

This league is designed to provide a recreation basketball opportunity for boys in high school. An 8 game schedule will be played followed by a single-elimination tournament. Games will be played on Saturdays for the majority of the season; there will be no practice time slots for teams. Teams are responsible for their own uniforms. Team registrations will be taken, individual players may call the Recreation Office at 630-553-4357 to be placed on a free agent listing, but enrollment isn't guaranteed in that situation. The program will be divided into a Freshman/Sophomore Division and Junior/Senior Division. Registration will be available November 5-16 by calling 630-553-4357.

Youth Baseball Tournaments

The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department hosts 4 Youth Baseball Tournaments throughout the summer. Tournaments are held at Steven G. Bridge Park (3651 Kennedy Rd, Yorkville) during the months of April-July. Sports League Weather Hotline


Athletic games will be cancelled in the case of extreme inclement weather. Players will be notified of all cancellations by their team coach, but can call our weather hotline at (630) 557-8471 or set up an account through RainoutLine for updated cancellation information. Practices are cancelled by individual coaches, so please contact your coach for practice cancellation information.


Volunteer Coaches


The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department is always looking for knowledgeable volunteer coaches for the Youth Soccer and Basketball leagues.
