About the Festival

The 2022 Hometown Days Festival is a family oriented event that provides entertainment the entire family can enjoy!  We are excited to bring back again this year the past favorites including the Ultimate Air Dogs Competition, Baby Contest, Bags Tournament, Big Band & BBQ, Pride and Joy Car Show and an exciting lineup of Musical Entertainment. Ultimate Air Dogs Competition

Enjoy a spectacular show of courage and athletics from dogs and their owners as they jump off a dock after a frisbee into a pool of water. Come as a spectator or compete with your own dog! Competitor registration is taken online at the Ultimate Air Dogs Website or onsite during the festival. All dogs are welcome; they only have to know how to swim. Big Band and Barbecue

Thursday, September 1
Join Senior Services Associates for a barbecue fundraiser featuring 5b's Barbecue and the Yorkville Big Band. Dinners will cost $16/individual or $30 for two dinners. Diners have a choice of 2 pork chops, half a barbecued chicken, or a combination of both. Join the Yorkville Big Band from 5pm-7pm as they take us back in time with some classic hits. Unlimited Ride Wristband Special
Get ready to ride!  For $25/person, children of all ages can ride an unlimited amount of rides between 1-5pm on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4.  Please note, wristbands are day specific and only valid on the day of purchase.

Baby Contest

Friday, September 2 (5:30pm)
 Join the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department for the cutest crowd favorite. The baby contest is an annual tradition that brings in the youngest of crowds. This year's Baby Contest is held on Friday, September 2 starting at 5:30pm with registration beginning at 5:15pm.  Participants may register for up to two categories and will be divided up by gender and age (0-9 Months and 10-18 Months).  Categories include:

Yorkville Junior Women's Fall Craft Show

Hometown Pinewood Derby

Get ready to design the fastest pinewood car in Yorkville! Yorkville Hometown Days 2022 is hosting a Hometown Pinewood Derby on Sunday, September 4 starting at 11am at Beecher Park (908 Game Farm Rd, Yorkville)!  Participants are encouraged to design cars for speed, show, or both! Prizes will be awarded to fastest two cars and best design in each age division!

Two divisions are offered - a Family Division (All Ages) and Child Division (15 and Under).  Cars are available for purchase at the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department (201 W Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville) or Yorkville City Hall (800 Game Farm Rd, Yorkville) beginning August 22 and ending September 2nd at 4:30pm. Preregistration is required for participation and all competitors must use the car kit supplied with registration.  Car kits come with a pre-shaped block of pinewood and wheels.  Please note, additional approved components can be purchased separately from third party suppliers as needed.  Pre-pay for your car online at www.yorkville.il.us/hometownderby 

Strut Your Mutt Competition

Does your pet have the longest ears, best trick or the most beautiful eyes?  Show us why your pet is the best as they compete for the title in fun categories (listed below) in this year's Strut Your Mutt Competition brought to you by Pet Supplies Plus!  Pets can be entered into two categories and are designated at registration.  Registration begins at 10:45am with the competition starting at 11:15am.  All pets are welcome; however, must have valid tags and always be on a leash or caged.  Categories include:

This is an afternoon you won't want to miss as the young and "young at heart" will enjoy singing along to some of Disney's greatest musical hits while meeting some of Disney's most famous characters and other beloved movie characters from Noon-3pm!  Visit all the characters collecting stickers at each stop to redeem a fun prize (while supplies last) at the Information Booth! Who needs an expensive theme park when you can come out to the United City of Yorkville's Hometown Days Festival for FREE?!

Flight Craft Beer Tasting

Saturday, September 4 (2:00-6:00pm)
Come on out for the best happy hour in town on Saturday, September 3 from 2-6pm as Flight Tasting Room & Bottle Shoppe and Heartland Beverage collaborate to provide a mouthwatering craft beer tasting!  For $15/person or $25/couple participants will taste a variety of six (6) craft beers, receive a a souvenir glass AND walk away with a 14oz glass of their favorite!  Registration and payments are made in cash the day of the event at the Beer Tent.  All participants must be 21 years or older, and able to supply a valid ID.

The Parks and Recreation Department is currently looking for vendors and exhibitors for the Annual Hometown Days Festival.  Space is limited so be sure to register early. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the festival. Completed applications will be reviewed by the committee and applicants will receive mail correspondence confirming or denying acceptance to the festival. Applications will be available in February 2020.
