2025 Water Main Improvements

Funding Notice:

Construction of the “2025 Water Main Replacement” project in Yorkville, IL along the streets of Madison Street, Madison Court, W. Hydraulic Avenue, Morgan Street, Van Emmon Street, Adams Street, State Street, Main Street, Orange Street, Washington Street, and West Alley were financed by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  This project includes the installation of approximately 8,900 feet of 8-inch ductile iron water main, water services, valve vaults, hydrants, and all related appurtenances.  Once complete, it will improve water quality, energy efficiency and system resiliency for area residents and businesses in The United City of Yorkville. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.

Project Scope:

This project is located on Madison Street, Madison Court, W. Hydraulic Avenue, Morgan Street, Van Emmon Street, Adams Street, State Street, Main Street, Orange Street, Washington Street, and West Alley.

The water main replacement project involves the replacement of aging water mains and services within the City to improve water distribution efficiency and ensure reliable service to residents and businesses. This project consists of the installation of approximately 8,900 feet of 8-inch ductile iron water main, curb and gutter removal and replacement, sidewalk removal and replacement, new sidewalk, roadway resurfacing, and restoration

The project will involve the installation of new water mains and fire hydrants and abandoning old water mains.  Once the new main has been completed and tested, new water services will be tapped and old services will be switched over to the new main at the shut-off valve, (b-box or buffalo box), near the right-of-way.  After new services are completed, the roadway will be patched and landscaped areas restored with seed and fertilizer.

Parkway Restoration:  Residents should be advised that lawn care and maintenance of parkway areas will be necessary to successfully provide a healthy stand of grass before the growing season’s end.  The hydro-mulch application is designed to only provide temporary protection for the grass seed, and as such it will be advantageous for residents to establish growth as soon as possible.

Lawn care and maintenance that will facilitate healthy grass germination include the following:

Watering seeded areas within a maximum of two days from the last appreciable rainfall.

Mowing of established stands of grass prior to reaching a height of four to five inches

Pulling of weeds competing for nutrients

During construction, there may be temporary disruptions to water service, traffic, parking and access to properties.
