2025 Local Road Program - I

Project Scope:

This resurfacing project is located on various streets in the Bristol Bay neighborhood as well as the neighborhood between South of Clearwater Dr., East of Omaha Dr., and North and South of E Spring St.

The mill and overlay project involves removing the top layer of existing pavement (milling) and then applying the new layer of asphalt (overlay) to the road surface. This process helps to restore the structural integrity of the road, improve driving conditions, and extend the life of the pavement.  The project may also involve removal and replacement of small sections of curb and gutter and sidewalk.

The project will involve milling the existing pavement to a specified depth, typically around 2 to 4 inches. Patching may also be performed at areas of failing pavement.  Once milling is complete, a tack coat will be sprayed on the milled surface to improve the bond between the old and new pavement.  It is advised to avoid driving your vehicle on your driveway until the tack coat has set up; typically after a few hours.

Finally, new layer(s) of asphalt will be applied to the road surface using a paving machine, (asphalt paver).  The new surface is then compacted in place with a series of heavy rollers.

New asphalt may be driven on as soon as the rolling process has been completed.  Please note that the new asphalt is very hot, and residents and especially pets should avoid walking on the new surface for several hours.

During construction, there may be temporary disruptions to water service, traffic, parking and access to properties.
