Due to significant changes to Metropolitan Chicago, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) has begun development of a new comprehensive plan ON TO 2050 that will be the successor of GO TO 2040, which was adopted in 2010. Similar to GO TO 2040, this plan will address land use and transportation for the 7 county area of Northeastern Illinois which is Kendall,
Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will Counties.
While this plan is not expected to be adopted until 2018, the early stages of development have started. As a part of this effort, CMAP will be drafting and publishing a series of existing condition snapshot reports and policy-focused strategy papers.
Through this process feedback is welcome by email using ONTO2050@cmap.illinois.gov or via social media using #2050bigideas. To provide input and for additional information regarding ON TO 2050 visit
