Proposed Project

Nexamp dba Yorkville Renewables, LLC, petitioner, on behalf of Daniel and Charene Nagel, owners, has filed applications with the United City of Yorkville, Kendall County, Illinois, requesting rezoning classification and special use authorization approval for an approximately 73.5-acre parcel.  The real property is generally located near the southwest corner of Galena Road and Bridge Street (IL Route 47). The petitioner is requesting the following: (1) to rezone the parcel from the R-2 to A-1 Agricultural District zoning, (2) special use permit approval for an approximately 23-acre solar farm, and (3) a variance to decrease the minimum rear and interior side yard setbacks from one hundred (100) to eight (8) feet.

Tentative Meeting Schedule

  • Economic Development Committee (EDC) Meeting - Tuesday, August 6th, 2024
  • Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) Meeting - Wednesday, September 11th, 2024 
  • City Council Meeting - Tuesday, September 24, 2024

NOTE: The schedule of meetings is tentative in nature.  If a previous meeting is cancelled or a quorum is not established, then all future meetings will be delayed until the next available meeting date.  It is important that each reviewing body gets a chance to review the proposal before advancing to the next meeting.

Public Hearing

The rezoning, special use, and variance public hearings are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the United City of Yorkville, City Hall, located at 651 Prairie Pointe Drive, Yorkville, Illinois 60560.  Remote attendance will also be available via Zoom. All interested parties are invited to attend the public hearing and will be given opportunity to be heard.  Any written comments should be addressed to the United City of Yorkville Community Development Department, City Hall, 651 Prairie Pointe Drive, Yorkville Illinois, and will be accepted up to the date of the public hearing.
