Departments Within Public Works

The Public Works Department of the United City of Yorkville is divided into 3 departments:
  • Sewer
  • Streets
  • Water
Each department has a vital role in the daily operations and maintenance of the City of Yorkville.

Street Department

The city's street department is responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvements of 105 lane miles of city roads and parking lots. The street department also maintains all traffic control devices and street lights.

Seasonal Operations

Seasonal operations include:
  • Brush and leaf pickup
  • Snow removal
  • Storm cleanup
  • Street sweeping

Water Department

The water department is responsible for providing safe drinking water to Yorkville residents. The water department also oversees 70 miles of water main pipe and 900 water hydrants. A copy of the City of Yorkville Annual Drinking Water Quality Report (PDF) is available to the public.

Public Works employees are on call 24 hours a day to ensure that all emergencies are taken care of in a timely and efficient manner. For after hours non-life threatening emergencies such as water main breaks, sewer backups and downed trees, please contact 630-553-4343. This non-emergency number can be called 24 hours a day.
