As a municipality in the State of Illinois, the United City of Yorkville is subject to the Prevailing Wage Act. The purpose of the Prevailing Wage Act is to ensure that the general prevailing rate of wages for laborers, mechanics, and other workers engaged in the construction of public works coming under the jurisdiction of the city are the same as the prevailing rate of wages for construction work in the Kendall County area. The prevailing rate of wages is determined by the Illinois Department of Labor.
