The United City of Yorkville is a mayor-council form of government and utilizes an appointed city administrator who is responsible for day-to-day operations. The City is comprised of 4 separate wards. Each ward is represented by 2 elected aldermen. Yorkville is a non home-rule community.

Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District (BKFD)
The Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District (BKFPD) provides Yorkville residents with fire protection. The BKFPD also provides the Yorkville community with a host of additional services including code enforcement, public education and prevention programs, fire suppression, hazardous materials response and paramedic services.
Yorkville Public Library
The Yorkville Public Library encompasses 40,000 square feet and is adjacent to City Hall. The library staff and board have made strides to increase services and additions to its many shelves. From its music CD collection and new databases to its many book clubs and children’s reading and interactive programs, there’s never a dull moment at the library.
