The City Government is located in United City of Yorkville City Hall and employees 91 full-time employees.

The United City of Yorkville is a mayor-council form of government and utilizes an appointed city administrator who is responsible for day-to-day operations. The city is comprised of 4 separate wards. Each ward is represented by 2 elected aldermen. Yorkville is a non-rule community. In addition to a mayor and 8 aldermen, the city is represented by an elected city treasurer and clerk.

Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District (BKFPD)
The Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District (BKFPD) provides Yorkville residents with fire protection. Mostly staffed by volunteers, the BKFPD is comprised by 6 career firefighters and is staffed by 47 per call firefighters. The BKFPD also provides the Yorkville community with a host of additional services including code enforcement, public education and prevention programs, fire suppression, hazardous materials response and paramedic services.

Yorkville Public Library
The Yorkville Public Library encompasses 40,000 square feet and is adjacent to City Hall. Since the 2006 opening of the library's new addition, the library staff and board has made strides to increase services and additions to its many shelves. From its music CD collection and new databases to its many book clubs and children’s reading and interactive programs, there’s never a dull moment at the library.
