Yorkville Independence Day Parade – July 4th at 9am!

Join us on July 4th at 9:00am for a fantastic event that the whole family will enjoy! Make sure to grab your lawn chairs and blankets and secure the best viewing spot along the parade route. The parade begins at Yorkville High School and ends at Town Square! Stick around at Town Square for fun family activities in the park until noon! We can't wait to see you there! Join the fun! Enter your float, drive your car, or walk in the Yorkville Independence Day Parade! Parade participation is free and open to all. Email recreation@yorkville.il.us for additional details on parade participation. Due to the Fourth of July on Friday, garbage pick-up will be delayed by one day. For example, if your garbage normally is collected on Friday, it will be collected on Saturday instead. Please call Groot at 630-892-9294 with any questions.

Join us for this incredibly COOL show. This presentation demonstrates the fascinating field of supercooling! Fermilab engineers use liquid nitrogen to supercool magnets for least resistance. Art for Everyone is an accessible painting class designed for adults and teens with physical or cognitive differences.  Our instructors want to collaborate to create art in an accepting, modification-friendly space. Registration for this program is required.  We cannot take walk-ins.  Group sizes will be limited. Looking for a fun and free activity for the family this summer? Look no further than Stories in the Park offered by Yorkville Public Library! Each week, we’ll explore a different park in Yorkville with a new and exciting story. Grab some friends, pack a blanket or picnic …or come and meet some new friends! Explore Yorkville Parks and listen to a Story. This summer's schedule includes: 

• July 9 at 10:30 - Green's Filling Station Park (2763 Autumn Creek Blvd) 

• July 16 at 10:30 - Beecher Park (901 Game Farm Road)

This summer you will have the chance to "LEVEL UP" five times to gain prizes, coupons, and raffle tickets, just by reading - every 20 minutes you read, color in the appropriate circle, once you've completed 200 minutes get your next game board! Stop by the Youth Service desk to pick up your first reading log to get started. Happy Reading!

Adult Summer Reading 2025: "Level Up" by reading a few books and by using more and more of what the YPL offers!

Inspired by video games of the past, the Yorkville Public Library is challenging you to "Level Up" your use of the library to learn about all the amazing materials, services, programs, and classes the library provides our wonderful community!

Level One: If you enjoy a simple summer reading program, Level One is for you!  Read six books this summer, between June 1 and July 31, turn in this form to the adult desk and be in the running for a prize. 

Level Two: Take your use of the library up a level and check out some of the passive programs, displays, and classes we offer.  Finish Levels One and Two and have double the entries in the prize drawing.

Level Three: Level Up even more by trying out some of the technology and services the library offers.  Finish all three levels for triple entries in the drawing.

The City's garbage and recycling provider Groot will collect electronics for recycling! This is a call-in service free of charge to Yorkville residents. To schedule a pick-up, you may call Groot's Customer Care number at 630-892-9294. When you contact them, they will provide you with a pick-up date. A friendly reminder that sod laying, lawn seeding, and the planting of other landscaping for the establishment of a new lawn or new landscaping is prohibited from July 1st through August 31st of each year, unless the source of watering for said sod, lawn seeding and/or planting of landscaping is derived from a private well, imported water source or means other than any municipal water source.
