Garbage Delay – Independence Day Holiday

Due to the Fourth of July on Thursday, garbage pick-up will be delayed by one day this week. For example, if your garbage normally is collected on Thursday, it will be collected on Friday instead. Normal Friday pick-up will be Saturday. Please call Groot at 630-892-9294 with any questions.

Experience an unforgettable Independence Day at the Yorkville Parade! Join us on July 4th at 9:00am for a fantastic event that the whole family will enjoy! Make sure to grab your lawn chairs and blankets and secure the best viewing spot along the parade route. The parade begins at Yorkville High School and ends at Town Square! Stick around at Town Square for fun family activities in the park until noon! We can't wait to see you there! Join the fun! Enter your float, drive your car, or walk in the Yorkville Independence Day Parade! Parade participation is free and open to all. Celebrate Christmas in July with Yorkville’s Rudolf Run 5k and Jingle Job Family Fun Run!

Get ready to jingle all the way to the finish line at the Yorkville Holiday Celebration on November 23! Register between July 8 and July 31, 2024, to unwrap an exclusive $10 off the Rudolph Run 5k or $5 off the Jingle Jog Family Fun Run. Plus, only early birds who sign up during this festive period will receive free a special surprise in their race swag bag! Santa has something special for everyone this year! All participants will receive a unique custom finisher medal, a commemorative ugly sweater tech long sleeve shirt (must register by September 25), and a bag full of race swag! Race to support your community! By joining the fun, you're not only spreading holiday cheer – you're also supporting the Knights of Columbus' Helping Hands program to provide essential food and toys to Kendall County families in need this holiday season, as a portion of each race registration goes to support this program. Runners and walkers are welcome for both races.

The City's garbage and recycling provider Groot will collect electronics for recycling! This is a call-in service free of charge to Yorkville residents. To schedule a pick-up, you may call Groot's Customer Care number at 630-892-9294. When you contact them, they will provide you with a pick-up date. A friendly reminder that sod laying, lawn seeding, and the planting of other landscaping for the establishment of a new lawn or new landscaping is prohibited from July 1st through August 31st of each year, unless the source of watering for said sod, lawn seeding and/or planting of landscaping is derived from a private well, imported water source or means other than any municipal water source. Adventure Begins: Summer Reading Program! Now through July 31st at the Yorkville Public Library!

Join the Yorkville Public Library for the 2024 Summer Reading Program, Adventure Begins! Go on an adventure to amazing places by reading books all Summer! How can you participate? Pick up your passport at the Yorkville Public Library, and track how many minutes you read this Summer! Each milestone of minutes read earns your reader a chance to win prizes! Read your first 240 minutes and bring in your tracker sheet by June 29 for a chance to win two tickets to Raging Waves Waterpark!  Read a total of 800 minutes, track them on your passport, and turn in your completed passport by August 7 to be entered into the final contest prize raffle! Reading passports (minute trackers) are available at the Yorkville Public Library now! For questions about the Summer Reading Program, please contact the Yorkville Public Library directly.
