The 2023 Hometown Days Festival is a family-oriented event that provides entertainment the entire family can enjoy!  We are excited to bring back again this year the past favorites including the Ultimate Air Dogs Competition, Baby Contest, Bags Tournament, Big Band & BBQ, Adult Date Night, Pride and Joy Car Show, and an exciting lineup of Musical Entertainment. City Offices will be closed on Monday, September 4th.  Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 5th.

Due to Labor Day on Monday September 4th, garbage pick-up will be delayed by one day that week. For example, if your garbage normally is collected on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday instead. Normal Friday pick-up will be Saturday.

Mark your calendars for our Annual Free Fall Event when we reveal the new title and unveil the story at the park!   The event is hosted by the Yorkville Educational Foundation, Yorkville School District 115, and the Yorkville Public Library. You won’t want to miss it!  It will have music, raffles, and a celebration of a story!  We will also have frozen treats from The Ice Cream Place available for purchase! Honor a veteran or servicemember by sponsoring a flag during this year’s Flags of Valor program. All proceeds from flag sponsorship are donated back to the Yorkville American Legion Post 489. The Scarecrow Walk is BACK this fall and we are inviting you to show off your creativity and submit a scarecrow! Individual families and businesses are encouraged and welcome to participate. Scarecrows can be simple, extravagant, spooky, or fun - just be creative! Please note, all scarecrows must be family friendly. The Scarecrow Walk is located in the woods on the Eastern end of Riverfront Park (131 E Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville) and will be available beginning September 29th throughout the month of October. Do you wish you had a simple way to train yourself how to make healthy food choices? This is an interactive class in healthy eating made simple. Participants will learn how to categorize food as well as the basics of label reading. By the end, they’ll feel more confident about making decisions at the grocery store for themselves and their families.

Meet members of the Illinois Prairie Weavers Guild and their looms on Saturday, September 16 at our Yorkville library.   You’ll see how weavers work at their looms and hear them describe the art and the craft of weaving, touch on the history (including women's roles – women wove the sails that caught the wind that brought the Vikings to England). Everyone will each have an opportunity to weave. There will be several different kinds of looms, with experienced weavers to guide your hands.
