United City of Yorkville Scarecrow Walk - On display through October 31stThe Scarecrow Walk is BACK this fall and we are inviting you to show off your creativity and submit a scarecrow! Individual families and businesses are encouraged and welcome to participate. Scarecrows can be simple, extravagant, spooky, or fun - just be creative! Please note, all scarecrows must be family friendly. The Scarecrow Walk is located in the woods on the Eastern end of Riverfront Park (131 E Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville) and will be available beginning September 29th throughout the month of October. Harry Potter Live Action Role Play on October 21 · 6pm · Family Event for Ages 6+ at the Yorkville Public LibraryExperience the magic of the wizarding world as the Yorkville Public Library transforms into Hogwarts for one night only on October 21! Witches and wizards (ages 6+) and their families will get sorted into houses and explore the school! Go on quests assigned to each house, play quidditch on the pitch, and see if you can pass potions class to earn house points! Advanced purchase of tickets is required for this event. Tickets are available for purchase for $2 per person at the Circulation Desk inside the Yorkville Public Library, during library hours. Everyone who attends is required to purchase a ticket; tickets are non-refundable. |

Flags of ValorHonor a veteran or servicemember by sponsoring a flag during this year’s Flags of Valor program. Brush Pick-Up Reminder – October 23rd!In order to provide the best service possible, we ask residents to please follow the below guidelines for brush pick-up on Monday, October 23rd: - All brush must be stacked parallel to the curb or street. Staff will be using tractors to pick up brush, if it is not stacked parallel to the street or curb, it will not be picked up.
- All brush should be stacked where it is free from obstacles such as fire hydrants, parkway trees, mailboxes, etc.
- Staff will NOT pick-up entire trees or bushes/shrubs
- No yard waste will be picked up, including yard waste in bags.
- No lumber, fencing, or any other foreign materials will be picked up.
Staff asks that if your brush pile fits into a yard waste bag, that you use a yard waste bag and place it out for pick-up on your normal garbage day. Thank you for your cooperation!

This year we are opening the Jingle Jog to ALL AGES that are looking for a shorter, noncompetitive run while still raising funds for Kendall County Families in need! All participants will receive a Custom 2.5” Finishers Medal, Jingle Bell, and cup of Hot Chocolate! PLUS, all runners registering by October 25 will receive a commemorative Jingle Jog Hoodie!
