October 2 - 6 is Groot Amnesty Week (White Goods/Bulk Items)!

This is the second pick-up Groot conducts (1 in the spring and 1 in the fall) annually. Please note that all White Goods/Bulk items must be on the curb by 6 a.m. on your regular garbage day. Only 1 pass will be made. During your normal garbage day, you may place out for collection an unlimited amount of white goods and bulk items for no additional charge. Flags of Valor

Flags of Valor

Honor a veteran or servicemember by sponsoring a flag during this year’s Flags of Valor program. All proceeds from flag sponsorship are donated back to the Yorkville American Legion Post 489. Flags are available now for sponsorship ($30/flag) and will be displayed in Town Square November 1-12th. For full details and sponsorship, visit Yorkville.il.us/FlagsofValor.

The Scarecrow Walk is BACK this fall and we are inviting you to show off your creativity and submit a scarecrow! Individual families and businesses are encouraged and welcome to participate. Scarecrows can be simple, extravagant, spooky, or fun - just be creative! Please note, all scarecrows must be family friendly. The Scarecrow Walk is located in the woods on the Eastern end of Riverfront Park (131 E Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville) and will be available beginning September 29th throughout the month of October. Run, Run Rudolph! It's time to help the Knights of Columbus spread some Christmas cheer to families in need! By participating in this 5K, a portion of your registration will help support the Knights of Columbus to provide food and toys to families in need within Kendall County this Christmas! Both walkers and runners are welcome!

Pre-Registration Dates: August 1 - October 25*

Fee: $50

*Your registration includes the Commemorative Rudolph Run Performance Micro Poly Long Sleeve Shirt. All registrations received after October 26 will not receive a race shirt.

Jingle all the way in the Jingle Jog Family Fun Run! This year we are opening the Jingle Jog to ALL AGES that are looking for a shorter, noncompetitive run while still raising funds for Kendall County Families in need! All participants will receive a Custom 2.5” Finishers Medal, Jingle Bell, and cup of Hot Chocolate! PLUS, all runners registering by October 25 will receive a commemorative Jingle Jog Hoodie! Experience the magic of the wizarding world as the Yorkville Public Library transforms into Hogwarts for one night only on October 21! Witches and wizards (ages 6+) and their families will get sorted into houses and explore the school! Go on quests assigned to each house, play quidditch on the pitch, and see if you can pass potions class to earn house points!

Advanced purchase of tickets is required for this event. Tickets are available for purchase for $2 per person at the Circulation Desk inside the Yorkville Public Library, during library hours. Everyone who attends is required to purchase a ticket; tickets are non-refundable.
