The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department's Scarecrow Walk is back, and we want to see your best scarecrow creations! Are you ready to unleash your creativity this fall?! Fill out the Idea Form now! https://www.yorkville.il.us/FormCenter/Parks-Recreation-3/Scarecrow-Idea-Form-74  

After receiving approval, all scarecrows must be dropped off by Monday, September 22nd in the parking lot of City Hall (651 Prairie Pointe Dr, Yorkville) between Noon-4:30p to be added to the walk. The Scarecrow Walk is located in the woods on the Eastern end of Riverfront Park (131 E Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville) and will be available September 26th through the month of October! Happy Fall!

Are you not ready for soccer to end this year? Join the Yorkville Parks & Recreation Department’s Late Fall Soccer Scrimmage League! This league is designed to further develop your soccer skills in a fun recreational atmosphere specifically on Saturdays only for four weeks from October 25 – November 15! Teams will meet for an hour and fifteen minutes on Saturdays. The first 30 minutes will consist of a practice with your team and the last forty-five minutes will consist of a scrimmage! Questions? The Yorkville American Legion Post 489 invites you to honor our nation and all of the veterans who have served with the 2025 Yorkville Flags of Valor as American Flags are displayed at Town Square during the week of Veterans Day. A flag can be sponsored for $30 a flag and will include a keepsake ribbon and option to personalize a tag in honor of a veteran. This flag will be displayed at Town Square (301 N Bridge, Yorkville) starting Monday, November 3 - Friday, November 14. This is the second pick-up Groot conducts (1 in the spring and 1 in the fall) annually. Please note that all White Goods/Bulk items must be on the curb by 6 a.m. on your regular garbage day. "We play stuff that you wouldn't hear other uke bands play, and sometimes the audiences are surprised to see a bunch of old people singing these songs." said Carl Hix, who has been teaching music since 1969. (Though we didn't see any old people at last year’s event, just an incredibly talented group of musicians!) 

Get ready, music lovers! The Hix Bros. Ukulele Band is coming to town, and you won't want to miss it! Join us on October 6th from 5:30-6:30pm at the Yorkville Public Library for an unforgettable performance by your favorite Ukulele Band. This wonderful music group started as a small club at a family-owned business, but over time has evolved into a talented and entertaining music ensemble that performs at fairs and festivals all over the Chicago area. So, grab your friends and family and get ready to tap your feet to the catchy tunes of the Hix Bros. Ukulele Band!

September 23 · Sun Printing: A Cyanotype Workshop

Participants will learn a method of printing that produces beautiful and distinctive blueprints.  We will create these prints using pre-treated fabric and sunlight.  Finishing ideas will be given for the final results.
