Yorkville Halloween Costume Contest and Halloween Egg Hunt on October 18th! Costume Contest at 6:30; Egg Hunt to Follow (approx. 7pm) at Town Square (301 N Bridge St)

The Halloween Costume Contest will be held on Friday, October 18 and will begin promptly at 6:30pm with the Halloween Egg Hunt immediately after around 7pm at Town Square Park (301 N Bridge St, Yorkville)! Get creative, have fun, and wear your best costume for the chance to compete in a friendly competition! While the Egg Hunt is for children ages 10 and under, the Halloween Costume Contest is for children and adults of all ages!

Awards will be given for the following categories:

  • Cutest
  • Spookiest
  • Most Creative (Child)
  • Most Creative (Adult)
  • Best Coordinated Group Costume
  • Best TV/Movie Character
  • Funniest

Halloween Egg Hunt begins immediately following the Costume Contest on October 18th.  The Halloween Egg Hunt is a spooky twist on an old tradition. Wear a costume, bring your flashlight and a container for eggs, and hunt in the darkness for toy filled eggs! It will be a spooktacular time you won't want to miss! This is a free event for children 10 and under.

Brush Pick-Up Reminder – October 21st

Brush Pick-Up Reminder – October 21st 

In order to provide the best service possible, we ask residents to please follow the below guidelines for brush pick-up on Monday, October 21st:

  • All brush must be stacked parallel to the curb or street.  Staff will be using tractors to pick up brush, if it is not stacked parallel to the street or curb, it will not be picked up.
  • All brush should be stacked where it is free from obstacles such as fire hydrants, parkway trees, mailboxes, etc.  
  • Staff will NOT pick-up entire trees or bushes/shrubs
  • No yard waste will be picked up, including yard waste in bags.
  • No lumber, fencing, or any other foreign materials will be picked up.  

Staff asks that if your brush pile fits into a yard waste bag, that you use a yard waste bag and place it out for pick-up on your normal garbage day.  Thank you for your cooperation!

2024 FLAGS OF VALOR

2024 Flags of Valor

The Yorkville American Legion Post 489 invites you to honor our nation and all the veterans who have served with the Yorkville Flags of Valor as American flags will be displayed at Town Square during the week of Veterans Day. A flag can be sponsored for $30 and will include a keepsake ribbon and personalized tag to honor a veteran (optional). Sponsorships must be received by October 23rd.  Flags will be displayed at Town Square (301 N Bridge, Yorkville) starting November 4 through November 15. This is an opportunity to recognize and honor a veteran or first responder in your life or support the hundreds of veterans in Yorkville and Kendall County. Everyone is welcome to participate. All proceeds will be donated to the Yorkville American Legion Post 489. Did you miss out on your chance to get this year's race shirt? You're in luck! Santa has delivered a special surprise to keep you off the naughty list this year. We have a very limited number of additional shirts for the Yorkville Holiday Races available for those who register quickly. Sizes are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Join us for the Yorkville Holiday Races on November 23, part of the Holiday Celebration weekend on November 22 & 23. This is more than just a race – it's a family experience you can't miss! Choose between the Rudolph Run 5K, a professionally chip-timed race, and the Jingle Jog Family Fun Run (1-mile). Walkers and runners are welcome for both races, making it an event for everyone.

Show off your holiday spirit by participating in our contest for the most festively dressed! Prizes will be awarded to winners in the Adult (age 18+), Child (age 17 and under), and group categories. Plus, don’t miss the chance to meet Santa at the American Legion from 10:30am-1:30pm on November 23, and cap off the day with spectacular fireworks at the corner of Rt 47 and Countryside Pkwy.

Mark Your Calendars for Leaf Pick-Up!

The City Leaf Pick-Up will be in the first half of November. The weeks of November 4th – November through November 22nd. Please have leaves on the curb by 7am!  Please make sure all leaves are loose, un-bagged and free of brush/branches, including debris (no pumpkins, decoration, etc.).
