Flags of Valor

Honor a veteran or servicemember by sponsoring a flag during this year’s Flags of Valor program. All proceeds from flag sponsorship are donated back to the Yorkville American Legion Post 489. City Offices Closed in Observance of Veterans Day, No Garbage Delay

City offices will be closed Friday, November 10th for Veterans Day. Garbage collection will run on a normal schedule for the entire week.

Kick off the holiday season with the Yorkville Holiday Celebration on Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18! This two-day celebration provides fun and holiday cheer for the entire family!

 FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17

*Visits with Santa (3:30-5:30pm)

*YPAC Santa Dancers and Elf Jr. Performance (6:00-6:15pm)

*Yorkville High School Madrigal Singers (6:15-6:30pm)

*Parade Along Hydraulic Avenue (6:30pm)

*Tree Lighting Ceremony (Immediately After Parade)

 SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18

*Vendor Fair (9am-dusk)

*Jingle Job Fun Run (2:30pm)

*Rudolph Run 5K (4pm)

*American Legion Fireworks Viewing Party (dusk to the end of the fireworks show)

*Fireworks Show (6:30pm)

We are seeking your help in spreading some Holiday cheer for the Rudolph Runners & Jingle Joggers and Walkers by decorating your house and yard by Saturday, November 18! Yorkville Holiday Celebration Parade, Friday, November 17th at 6:30pm at Riverfront Park (131 E. Hydraulic)

Join the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department this year at the Yorkville Holiday Celebration in downtown Yorkville as we spread some holiday cheer with a Parade starting at 6:30pm. The parade will begin at the corner of Hydraulic Ave and Mill Street, proceed West down Hydraulic Avenue, and end at Route 47. We ask all parade spectators to view the parade on the North side of Hydraulic Ave along the sidewalk of Riverfront Park. Anyone is eligible to have a float within the parade and all interested participants are encouraged to contact the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department to confirm a space within the parade. Floats will be accepted the day of the parade as space allows and are encouraged to have lights illuminating their float as it will be dark during the parade.

The Read With Rusty program is a 4-week reading power play. It is open to children 14 years old and under. It is designed to promote a lifelong love for reading, literacy, and hockey.  Read and receive a FREE ticket to the Chicago Steel hockey game at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Stop by the library to pick up your Chicago Steel Read with Rusty reading log!

For $8 per person, families will enjoy a hot breakfast, games, crafts, activities, AND A VISIT FROM SANTA! Families will have time for a short visit with Santa so be sure to bring your camera! Santa is checking his list and wants to hear from YOU this Holiday Season! Please send your letter (include age and gender) to Santa by Monday, December 13. Santa will then read your letter and send a response by Saturday, December 24!
