City Hall and Police Station Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting – Tuesday, June 13th 4pm – 7pm

On behalf of Mayor John Purcell and the Yorkville City Council, we are delighted to invite you to the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Yorkville City Hall and Police Station on June 13, 2023, from 4:00-7:00pm. The ceremony will take place at 651 Prairie Pointe Drive, Yorkville, Illinois. The dedication ceremony will take place at 4:00pm, with the ribbon cutting following at approximately 4:30pm. We would be honored to have you join us to celebrate this important milestone. After the ribbon cutting, we will offer tours for guests to experience the new facility. Refreshments from Home Plate Hot Dogs will be available. Leagues are available for boys and girls in 1st-8th grades plus a coed T-ball League and High School Boys League! School is out for the summer and it's time to sit back, relax, and dip your toes in the sand as the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department Turns Town Square Parks into a Beach Party! Listen to your favorite beach music and tropical rock hits by Trop Rock band Cabanarama from 6:00-9:00pm, sip on fruity cocktails and mocktails available for purchase, and enjoy some of your favorite beach games with friends! Keep the kids entertained! Kids will have the chance to get wet and wild in a foam pit provided by our 2023 Summer Sponsor, Foam Party All Stars, and surf on an inflatable mechanical surfboard! Other beach activities include sand pits, volleyball, bags, and more will be available for free to help kids celebrate all evening long! SAVE THE DATE – YORKVILLE INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – TUESDAY, JULY 4TH 

Grab your chairs and get ready for a fantastic time at the Yorkville Independence Day Parade on Tuesday, July 4!  The parade begins at 9am starting at the Yorkville High School and ending at Town Square Park. Those looking to enter a float in the parade do not need to inform the committee of their participation prior to the parade. All participating floats should arrive at the Yorkville High School the morning of the parade starting at 7:30am for line-up with the parade starting at 9am. 

After the parade, join us in Town Square Park for activities including children's foot races, bounce houses, and a performance by the Yorkville Community Band.  In addition to activities, food and drinks will be available for purchase at Town Square by local vendors. Town Square activities begin immediately after the parade and end at 1:00pm. Volunteers are needed to assist with the Town Square Activities.  Please consider donating a bit of your time to help keep this long-standing tradition going.

Join the United City of Yorkville that evening for a spectacular Independence Day Fireworks show on Tuesday, July 4!  The fireworks will begin at dusk and will be shot off near the corner of Rt 47 and Countryside Parkway.

2023 Summer Reading Program: ALL TOGETHER NOW - June 1 – July 31

We are excited to offer our summer reading program! Beginning on June 1st, log your minutes on the paper log, located at the Youth Service Desk. The paper log is also on the YPL website's main page: https://www.yorkville.lib.il.us/ for at home printing.  We challenge you to read 400 minutes in June and another 400 minutes in July. If you complete and record your minutes, you will earn one raffle ticket for each month completed.  Please stop by the library (or print at home) for your reading log and incentives, then start READING!  The drawing will be August 3rd for the grand prize.

We are excited to be heading back to the Farmacy Farmstand for a Honey Bee Story Time for the whole family! Join us at 10:30 or 2:30 at the Farmacy for bee themed stories, and a lesson from owner Pearl Carpenter about bees and beekeeping.  Please note: We will NOT be near the beehives and this program is weather dependent.
