Development Update
The City is off to a steady start for the 2022 construction season. There were 129 new residential building permits issued from January 2022 to August 2022 which includes 108 single-family detached and 21 single-family attached (townhomes) residential permits. While this is slightly less than the 2020 new home construction season, the average home construction value has increased by almost 9%, from approximately $155,000 in 2021 to nearly $170,000 in 2022. The subdivisions with the most construction activity during 2022 continue to be Grande Reserve (Single-Family) and Raintree Village (Single-Family and Townhomes).
Overall, the City processed approximately 916 building permits since January 2022. There has also been a significant increase in residential solar installations with 81 permits issued since January 2022 compared to 26 permits issued during the same time in 2021.
New commercial projects opened, under construction or approved include: Belle Tire (wheel and automotive service retailer located at 1735 Marketview Drive); Chipotle (Mexican styled fast casual restaurant to be located at 444 E. Veterans), Bright Farms (indoor hydroponic lettuce farm currently under construction on Eldamain & Corneils Road), and the renovation of the new City Hall facility in the Prairie Pointe subdivision.
