May the Fourth Be With You – Virtual Space Race 5K & 10K

Run COVID-19 right out of town and into a galaxy far far away during Yorkville’s “May the
Fourth be with You” Virtual Space Race! You don’t need to be a Jedi Master to run this race as  all droids, wookiees, stormtroopers and jedis are welcome to join! The race begins May 4, 2020 so start training now and May the Fourth be with you as you run your way to the finish line and a new personal record!
You can complete your journey within your neighborhood, on one of Yorkville’s trails or even within your own home on a treadmill! Outside runners should download a GPS tracking app to track their progress as well as follow all social distancing guidelines. Once you have completed your mission submit your times and image of your run results by visiting www.yorkville.il.us/spaceraceresults! Please note that all results must be submitted by Sunday, May 17th.
Each runner will receive a drawstring bag with a participation medal, energy bars and hand sanitizer! All race packets will be sent to you via USPS. You do not need your race packet to begin the race.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

1. Go to https://bit.ly/3cy1dZ1 and complete the registration process.
2. Await your Galactic Giveaway which will be delivered to you by via USPS courier.
3. The race officially starts on May 4, 2020 so that the force shall be with all contestants!
4. Complete and track your virtual race by running/walking. Results must be confirmed with an image of your race result (time and distance).
5. Submit your times by going to www.yorkville.il.us/spaceraceresults . Submission will be accepted beginning May 4th and ending May 17th.
6. Check the Parks and Recreation webpage www.yorkville.il.us/parksandrec on May 18th for final race results and winners! Winners will receive prizes in the mail the week of May 18.

RUN IN STYLE!
Complete your mission while dressing up as your favorite Star Wars or space character! Upload your picture with your race results at www.Yorkville.il.us/spaceraceresults and our finalists will be highlighted on Facebook! The picture with the most reactions will win the best dressed competition and receive a $25 gift certificate for a future program through the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department!
