New Leaf Solar Energy (Annexation, Rezoning & Special Use)

Proposed Project
New Leaf Energy, Inc. dba Beecher Solar 1, LLC, petitioner, on behalf of Robert M. and Ildefonsa Loftus, owners, has filed an application with the United City of Yorkville, Kendall County, Illinois, requesting annexation of three (3) parcels consisting of 27.63 acres into the City’s municipal boundary. The property is generally located north and south of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad line, east of Beecher Road. The land is currently undeveloped and used for farming. The purpose of this annexation agreement is to allow the construction of a solar farm on a portion of the property and permit the existing agricultural use on the remainder within City limits. The request will also require approval of a rezoning from R-1 Single-Family Suburban Residential District to A-1 Agricultural District and special use authorization to construct and operate a community solar farm, all of which is contingent on approval of annexation by the City Council.

The annexation public hearing is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 7:00 PM at the United City of Yorkville, City Hall, located at 800 Game Farm Road, Yorkville, Illinois 60560. Remote attendance will also be available via Zoom. All interested parties are invited to attend the public hearing and will be given opportunity to be heard. Any written comments should be addressed to the United City of Yorkville Community Development Department, City Hall, 800 Game Farm Road, Yorkville Illinois, and will be accepted up to the date of the public hearing.
