There's always room for a festival in Yorkville and you're invited to help us celebrate our heritage and small town charm. From Music Under the Stars to our Hometown Days Festival and Holiday Under the Stars, the United City of Yorkville comes alive through our many festivals and recreational opportunities. The United City of Yorkville also partners with the Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Below is a brief list of festivals, celebrations and entertainment for 2009. We'll be adding more throughout the year so check back for more up-to-the-minute information. Please note that event dates, times and locations are subject to change.

Easter Egg-Xpress

Saturday, March 27; 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Aurora Metra Train Station

Fee is $10 for residents; $12 for nonresidents

All aboard the Easter Egg-Express! Join the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department for an eggexciting trip to visit the Easter bunny and hunt for eggs. The trip boards at Aurora's Metra Train Station, 233 North Broadway. Enjoy a snack and drink while you travel to Naperville to hunt for eggs and visit with the Easter bunny. The train will return to the Aurora Metra Station. To register call the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department at 630.553.4357. Please note that Metra passes will not be accepted for this trip.

Tax Dodge 5K run/walk and 10K run

Sunday, April 18; At the REC Center, 202 E. Countryside Parkway

Registration: 7-8:15 a.m.; Race begins at 8:30 a.m.

Jump start your running season on Sunday, April 18 with this great Yorkville Parks and Recreation event. Exhibitors, chair massages, blood pressure checks, free giveaways and a whole lot of fun!

Entry fees: Pre-registration fee for 5K run/walk is $20 and $25 day of race; pre-registration fee for 10K run is $30 and $35 day of race. Call the Parks and Recreation office at 630.553.4357 for more information or download an application form here. Tax Dodge 2010 route.

United City of Yorkville 25th annual Golf Outing

Friday, May 7; Blackberry Oaks Golf Course

Join the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department for the city's 25th annual Golf Outing. All are welcome to play. The maximum number of players is 170, so register today! Your fee includes open play golf before and after golf outing until dark, 18 holes of golf with a shot gun start, ,scramble play, a golf cart,a hole in one "win a car" contest, lunch, & beverages on the course.The cost of this year's golf outing is $360 for a foursome, $90 for a single, and $10 for lunch only. Sponsorships for the Golf Outing are a great way to advertise and support the Recreation Department. Call the Recreation office for more information at 630.553.4357. Music Under the Stars

Second and fourth Friday evenings in June, July and August

7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Town Square Park, Rt. 47 and Main Street

Musical entertainment at its finest under the stars with Yorkville's Parks and Recreation Department. Bring your family, friends, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets for an enjoyable evening in one of Yorkville's beautiful parks. We'll have a variety of music all summer long . Please note that the The 2010 summer musical lineup will be announced at a later date. FREE!

Farmers' Market

Saturday mornings beginning June 12 through October 23

8 a.m. to Noon, Town Square Park, Rt. 47 and Main Street

Browse Yorkville's Town Square Park on Saturday mornings beginning Saturday, June 12 for a variety of farm fresh produce, handmade crafts, baked goods, fresh honey and much more! Summer to fall Yorkville's Farmers' Market is sure to have both fresh and seasonal produce! Make Yorkville's Farmers' Market your first stop every Saturday morning! 55th Annual Fourth of July Festivities

Saturday, July 3

9 a.m. (parade begins) at Yorkville High School 797 Game Farm Road

10:30 a.m. Festivities in Town Square Park

Join the Bristol Kendall Fire Department for a variety of Fourth of July activities beginning with the 55th annual Independence Day Parade. The parade begins at Yorkville High School and travels down Game Farm Road to Somonauk to Town Square Park. And there's fun for everyone after the parade in Town Square with games, activities, food, and the Yorkville Community Band. Mark your calendars for this hometown patriotic tribute to our country! 18th Annual Hometown Days Festival

Friday September 3 - Sunday, September 5

Beecher Community Center, 908 Game Farm Road

This annual tribute to our hometown kickoffs on Friday evening with music, food, carnival rides, and plenty of entertainment in between. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the fireworks finale on Sunday evening! There's something for everyone all weekend long including bingo, a Sunday afternoon bean bag tournament, the Pride and Joy Car Show, the Hometown Days 5K run, a pet parade, pancake breakfast, a baby contest, food from Yorkville's very own restaurants and musical entertainment on the main stage all three evenings. Patriots Walk

Saturday, September 11

9 a.m. at City Hall, 800 Game Farm Road

The United City of Yorkville, Mayor Valerie Burd, Yorkville's American Legion Post #489 and local boy and girl scout organizations gather at City Hall and walk to Town Square in remembrance of those who lost their lives on September 11. This annual tribute honors all victims of September 11 in addition to all of our past and present armed force personnel who have served our country. For more information call 630.553.8564.

4th Annual Holiday Under the Stars

Friday, November 19

5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Town Square Park and Downtown Yorkville

We're kicking off the holiday season with horse and carriage rides, a holiday street bazaar, food, all-weather ice skating, musical performances, giveaways, hot chocolate, crafts, a trackless train, the Chili Chase 5K run and much more! And of course a visit from you-know-who. This is one holiday event you surely won't want to miss! This year's fourth annual Holiday Under the Stars is bigger and better than ever.
