There's always room for a festival in Yorkville and you're invited to help us celebrate our heritage and small town charm. From Music Under the Stars to our Hometown Days Festival and Holiday Under the Stars, the United City of Yorkville comes alive through our many festivals and recreational opportunities. The United City of Yorkville also partners with the Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. JANUARY-DECEMBER

Art in City Hall
January – December, Mon. - Fri., 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
United City of Yorkville City Hall, 800 Game Farm Road, Yorkville

Artists are currently needed for the Art in City Hall Program. All artwork is exhibited in Yorkville's City Hall Council Chambers. Exhibits are free to artists and residents. JANUARY & FEBRUARY

Parker’s Playtime Preschool 2013-2014 Registration Begins!

The Yorkville Recreation Department’s Parker’s Playtime Preschool began registration for the 2013-2014 school year Monday, January 7 for residents of Yorkville and will begin Monday, January 14 for nonresidents of Yorkville at the REC Center (202 E Countryside Pkwy). Parker’s Playtime Preschool is designed for children between the ages of 3-5 and focuses on each child’s overall developmental needs by providing a stimulating environment through hands-on experiences. Spring Soccer Registration

The Yorkville Recreation Department’s registration for the Spring Soccer League begins January 29! The Spring Soccer League is designed to teach and improve children ages 4 – 10 the various skills and knowledge pertaining to the game of soccer in a fun, recreational atmosphere. There will be a six game schedule with games played on Saturdays. Practice will be held twice a week for the first few weeks before games begin. Practices will then go to once a week with games on Saturdays. The cost is $65 for residents and $75 for nonresidents. Players are also required to wear a reversible jersey that can be purchased at the REC Center for $18. Open registration has been completed. Coed and Men’s Summer Softball Leagues

It is almost that time again! The Adult Softball Season is right around the corner and the Yorkville Recreation Department is offering several leagues this summer! The Coed Softball League is scheduled on Tuesday evenings starting April 30 and runs through July 30. The Men’s Softball League is scheduled on Thursday evenings starting May 2 and runs through August 1. Both leagues are based on a 13 game schedule, plus playoffs and costs $665 per team with an additional fee of $10 for each non-resident player. Registration begins Monday, February 4 at 8:00am at the REC Center (202 E Countryside Pkwy) and runs through Friday, April 12. For more information please contact Jon or Shay at 630-553-2582.

Men’s Double Header Softball League

Is your team ready for a higher level of competition and more games throughout the summer? The Yorkville Recreation Department designed this league just for that! Teams will play double headers with a 21 game schedule and a single-elimination tournament. It will be slow pitch with a limited arc using a 12” softball. The majority of games will be played on Monday and Wednesday evenings starting at 6:20pm, 7:30pm, 8:40pm, and 9:50pm. The cost is $915 per team plus an additional $10 per non-resident player. Pre-Season Adult Slow-Pitch Softball Leagues

Get warmed-up for the summer softball season by entering into the Yorkville Recreation Department’s Pres-Season League! Both a Coed League on Tuesday evenings and a Men’s League played on Thursday evenings will be available! The league will consist of an 8 game schedule with the majority of games played at 6:20pm, 7:30pm, 8:40pm, and 9:50pm depending on registration numbers. This season begins the week of April 1 and runs through April 25. The cost is $250 per team with registration beginning on Monday, February 4 at 8:00am at the REC Center (202 E Countryside Pkwy) and runs through Friday, March 15. Easter Egg-Xpress

Saturday, March 23
All Aboard!! Take the Easter Egg-Xpress to go see the Easter Bunny and hunt for Easter eggs.
Each child will get a chance to meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs. A small snack and
drink will be served in Naperville. The train will depart from the Aurora Metra train station and
go to Naperville. In Naperville will walk to a local park and meet the Easter Bunny and begin our
hunt for eggs. You will return to the Aurora station. Please dress for the weather. Also there
is a parking charge (exact change needed) at the Aurora Metra Train Station. Metra passes are not
accepted on this trip. Everyone in a family planning on attending must register.

Wine Nights Information
Hosted by the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department and Cobblestone. Back by popular demand! Once again we will be offering Wine and Music on three selected evenings during Music Under the Stars. Bring a lawn chair, your dinner and kick back with a classic glass of wine and great music. Cobblestone will offer two to three different red and white wines during the evening. For $5 you will receive a souvenir glass. Wine Tasting tickets may be purchased for $1. Additional glasses of wine are $5 each. Bottles may be purchased (prices may vary). You must be 21 to consume or purchase alcohol. No wine will be allowed to leave the park.

Parade:
- Parade line up at Yorkville High School is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- Parade will start at 9:00 a.m.
- Parade route as follows: Game Farm Road, Somonauk Street,
King Street, West Main Street, Church Street. Will end at the
water tower.
Town Square Park Activites:
- Following the Parade @ Town Square Park till 1pm
- Food/Drink will be available for purchase.
- Kids Foot Races, rides and waterfights Yorkville Community
Band
Fireworks will begin at Dusk
- The fireworks will be shot off of/around Rt. 47 and
Countryside Parkway. Just south of Menards.
- The Yorkville Big Band will be performing at 7:00 p.m. at
Larson-Nelson Funeral Home

- All 4th of July activities are free to everyone, except food/
drink purchases and are subject to change without notice

Illinois Whitewater Festival

On the east end of Bicentennial Riverfront Park come for a day of whitewater fun! Events will include whitewater kayak mini-lessons, rafting challenges, kayak biathalon, and a boat regatta from 10am-6pm.

Halloween Egg Hunt

Friday, Oct. 25, 5-8 p.m. at Beecher Community Park, 908 Game Farm Rd.

Before the annual Egg Hunt, come out an enjoy hayrides, pumpkin decorating (1 per family), pizza slices (small fee - Rosati's), "HOWL"ween pet contest and more from 5-8pm. At 8pm we will start the annual Halloween Egg Hunt. It’s a twist on an old tradition. Sweet prizes await you! Wear your costumes, bring a flashlight and container for your eggs. Please stay on the sidewalks until we start the hunt! Toddlers will go first and every few minutes we will send the next group, ending with the oldest children. 10 eggs per child.

We're kicking off the holiday season this year with a traditional tree lighting ceremony, food, holiday fun
activites, Santa’s workshop with a visit from Santa and to the end the evening with a holiday fireworks show on Saturday Nov. 23. This is one holiday event you surely won't want to miss! This year's seventh annual Holiday Under the Stars is bigger and better than ever. The Kris Kringle Market--a variety of kiosks featuring crafts, gifts, holiday items and more to get you started with your holiday shopping. Vendor booth space is available for $25 all evening long!
