From Music Under the Stars to our Hometown Days Festival and Holiday Under the Stars, the United City of Yorkville comes alive through our many festivals and recreational opportunities. Parker’s Playtime Preschool 2014-2015 Registration Begins!
The Yorkville Recreation Department’s Parker’s Playtime Preschool will begin registration for new students for the 2014-2015 school year starting Monday, January 6, for residents of Yorkville and will begin Monday, January 13 for nonresidents of Yorkville at the ARC Building (201 W. Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville). Parker’s Playtime Preschool is designed for children between the ages of 3-5 and focuses on each child’s overall developmental needs by providing a stimulating environment through hands-on experiences. NEW Jr Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 School Year!
The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce that a Jr. Kindergarten will be offered for the 2014-2015 School Year! This is a five day a week program designed for students ages 4 and 5 that will help your child build the skills needed for attending school all day! Students in this program will participate in a wide variety of activities to help them make a smooth transition into Kindergarten. Registration for Jr. Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year begins Monday, January 6, 2014 for Yorkville residents and Monday, January 13 for nonresidents of Yorkville at the ARC Building (201 W. Ready, Set, Go!
The Yorkville Recreation Department is offering a new session of Ready, Set, Go! Ready, Set, Go is a program designed to introduce children ages 2-3 to the daily and weekly routine of preschool with activities that are adapted to meet the needs of this younger age group! Sessions will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 – 10:30am. Price is $75 for residents and $85 for nonresidents. Spring Soccer Registration
The Yorkville Recreation Department’s registration for the Spring Soccer League begins Monday February 3! The Spring Soccer League is designed to teach and improve children ages 4 – 10 the various skills and knowledge pertaining to the game of soccer in a fun, recreational atmosphere. There will be a six game schedule with games played on Saturdays. Practice will be held twice a week for the first few weeks before games begin. Practices will then go to once a week with games on Saturdays. The cost is $65 for residents and $75 for nonresidents. Players are also required to wear a reversible jersey that can be purchased for $18. For more information please contact Tyler at 630-553-4357.
Coed and Men’s Summer Softball Leagues
It is almost that time again! The Adult Softball Season is right around the corner and the Yorkville Recreation Department is offering several leagues this summer! The Coed Softball League is scheduled on Tuesday evenings starting April 29 and runs through July 29. The Men’s Softball League is scheduled on Thursday evenings starting May 1 and runs through July 31. Both leagues are based on a 13 game schedule, plus playoffs and costs $750 per team with an additional fee of $10 for each non-resident player. Pre-Season Adult Slow-Pitch Softball Leagues
Get warmed-up for the summer softball season by entering into the Yorkville Recreation Department’s Pres-Season League! Both a Coed League on Tuesday evenings and a Men’s League played on Thursday evenings will be available! The league will consist of an 8 game schedule with the majority of games played at 6:20pm, 7:30pm, 8:40pm, and 9:50pm depending on registration numbers. This season begins the 1st week of April and runs through the last week of April. The cost is $100 per team with registration beginning on Monday, February 3 at 8:00am and runs through Friday, March 21. For more information please contact Tyler at 630-553-4357.

Pitch, Hit, & Run Competition
The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a FREE Pitch, Hit, & Run Competition on Friday, April 11 at the Steven Bridge Baseball Fields (3651 Kennedy Rd, Yorkville). The Pitch, Hit, and & Run Competition will include three different events judging the accuracy of players’ pitches, the length and accuracy of hitting a ball off a tee, and the speed players can run the bases! Boys and girls divisions are available for ages 7-14 (as of July 18). Registration will be held the day of on Friday, April 11 from 4:30-5:15pm with the competition scheduled to begin at 5:30pm. Competitors are encouraged to bring their own bat and glove. For more information call the Recreation Offices at 630-553-4357.

Illinois Whitewater Festival
The Chicago Whitewater Association with support from the City of Yorkville is putting on a White Water festival at the Marge Cline Whitewater Park on the Fox River. Slalom, Rodeo, cardboard races and more on water events plus a rib festival with live music and refreshments. Save the date and spread the word. Also we will have slalom clinics and moving water instruction in the months prior so keep watching the ACA Mid West Division Facebook page for updates.
On the east end of Bicentennial Riverfront Park come for a day of whitewater fun! Events will include whitewater kayak mini-lessons, cardboard boat race, and more from 8am-5pm.

Outdoor Movie Nights
Yorkville's Parks and Recreation Movie nights in July and August, at various park locations. Bring your lawn chair, blankets, and family and friends for movie night on our 30-foot inflatable screen. Movies begins at dark around 9 p.m. Free.

Yorkville Police Department National Night Out
Tuesday Aug. 5th
The Yorkville Police Department in partnership with Target, Yorkville Parks and Recreation, Bristol- Kendall Fire Department, Yorkville Citizen Police Academy Alumni, and Home Plate Hot Dogs will be taking part in the 31st annual "National Night Out" celebration on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local crime prevention programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Enjoy fun events for all family members at the Beecher Center (908 Game Farm Road) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Residents are asked to join us and spend the evening outside with their neighbors and police officers, Fire and EMS and volunteers.
