Below is a brief list of festivals, celebrations and entertainment for 2010. We'll be adding more throughout the year so check back for more up-to-the-minute information. Please note that event dates, times and locations are subject to change. 2010 Upcoming Events Art in City Hall
Music Under the Stars Second and fourth Friday evenings in June, July and August 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Town Square Park, Rt. 47 and Main Street Musical entertainment at its finest under the stars with Yorkville's Parks and Recreation Department. Bring your family, friends, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets for an enjoyable evening in one of Yorkville's beautiful parks. We'll have a variety of music all summer long. FREE! Farmers' Market Saturday mornings beginning June 12 through October 23 8 a.m. to Noon, Town Square Park, Rt. 47 and Main Street Browse Yorkville's Town Square Park on Saturday mornings beginning Saturday, June 12 for a variety of farm fresh produce, handmade crafts, baked goods, fresh honey and much more! Summer to fall Yorkville's Farmers' Market is sure to have both fresh and seasonal produce! Make Yorkville's Farmers' Market your first stop every Saturday morning! Please note that the Farmers' Market has been cancelled on Saturday, July 3 and on Saturday, Sept. 4 due to other events in Town Square Park. FREE! Outdoor Movie Nights Bring your lawn chair, blankets, family and friends and enjoy a free movie in the park on Yorkville’s Parks and Recreation’s 30-foot inflatable screen. All movies are free. National Night Out Tuesday, August 3 6-8 p.m. Town Square Park, Rt. 47 and Main Street This annual celebration honors neighborhoods throughout the U.S.and promotes spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation. Join the Yorkville Police Department, the Citizens Police Academy Alumni and the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department for an evening of games, family activities, food, demonstrations, meeting new friends and much more. You'll have a great time getting to know your neighbors and your working community personnel. For more information call 630.553.4340. FREE! NEW! Music Under the Stars and River Night Friday, August 13, 5:30-10 p.m. Riverfront Bicentennial Park, 131 E. Hydraulic Join the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department and the Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce for a special evening of music, food, and fun by the Fox River located in beautiful Riverfront Bicentennial Park, 131 E. Hydraulic Street in downtown Yorkville. Musical entertainment by EPIC. Wine and beer available for individuals over 21; $1 wristbands. No outside coolers or food allowed. FREE! Additional information is available by contacting 630.553.4357 or 630.553.6853. 18th Annual Hometown Days Festival Thursday, Sept. 2 - Sunday, September 5 Beecher Community Center, 908 Game Farm Road Admission: $2 after 5 p.m. Sept. 3 - Sept. 5 NEW! Thursday evening is Family Night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. All rides $1 each. This annual tribute to our hometown kicks off on Friday evening with music, food, carnival rides, and plenty of entertainment in between. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the fireworks finale on Sunday evening! There's something for everyone all weekend long including bingo, a Sunday afternoon bean bag tournament, the Pride and Joy Car Show, the Hometown Days 5K run, a pet parade, pancake breakfast, a baby contest, food from Yorkville's very own restaurants and musical entertainment on the main stage. Patriots Walk Saturday, September 11 9 a.m. at City Hall, 800 Game Farm Road Join Mayor Valerie Burd and Yorkville's American Legion Post #489 for a tribute to all those who lost their lives on September 11. Meet at City Hall at 9 a.m. and walk to Town Square Park for a memorial to September 11 victims and our current military personnel. Mark your calendars for this hometown patriotic tribute to our country. For information call 630.553.8564. Northern Illinois National Hunting and Fishing Days Saturday and Sunday, September 25 and 26 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Rain or Shine!) Silver Springs State Park, 13608 Fox Road, Yorkville This sports extravaganza dedicated to hunting and fishing offers two full days of activities for all ages including a climbing wall, fly tying and fly casting demonstrations, a kids casting area, a stocked kids fishing pond, casting demos; hunting, fishing and dog training seminars, dog agility, outdoor women's seminars, vendors, food, raffles and family fun! And of course a visit from you-know-who. NEW! this year is the Kris Kringle Market--a variety of kiosks featuring crafts, gifts, holiday items and more to get you started with your holiday shopping.
