There's always room for a festival in Yorkville and you're invited to help us celebrate our heritage and small town charm. From Music Under the Stars to our Hometown Days Festival and Holiday Under the Stars, the United City of Yorkville comes alive through our many festivals and recreational opportunities. The United City of Yorkville also partners with the Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.  Parker’s Playtime Preschool 2012 - 2013 Registration

          The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department will begin registration for Parker’s Playtime Preschool’s 2012-13 school year. Sign up for resident registration begins Monday, Jan. 9 and nonresident registration begins on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at the REC. Center located at 202 E. Countryside Parkway.  A $50 fee is required at the time of registration.

Art in City Hall

Artists are currently needed for the Art in City Hall Program. All artwork is exhibited in Yorkville's City Hall Council Chambers. Exhibits are free to artists and residents. January

REC Center Winter Open House & Membership Promotion

Join the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 for Winter Family FunNight at the REC Center, 202 E. Countryside Parkway.

               On Friday evening kids of all ages will enjoy crafts, inflatables, basketball, open swim, and much more all under one roof. Then on Saturday, Jan. 14 the public is invited to enjoy three free hours of fitness demonstrations during Fitness Demo Day from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Experience a variety of fitness and wellness class demonstrations including group power, indoor cycling and more.

                A special membership promotion will run the same weekend beginning Friday and running through Monday, Jan. 16. During the promotion there will no enrollment fee($50) for new yearly members. In addition, current members referring a friend to sign up for a one year membership will receive one month free towards their current membership. Ready, Set, Go

The Yorkville Recreation Department is offering Ready, Set, Go which is a class designed to introduce your child to the daily and weekly routine of preschool.  Each week will include curriculum that is based on our Parker’s Playtime Preschool program, but adapted to meet the needs of a two and three year old!  This program runs two days a week, like most preschool programs, but only half the time.  Ready, Set, Go meets on Mondays and Wednesdays starting January 4 and runs through February 1 from 9:00am – 10:15am at the Recreation Department’s South Location (201 W. Hydraulic Street).  The cost is $85 for residents and $100 for nonresidents.  For more information or to register, contact the REC Center at 630-553-2582 or log online to www.yorkville.il.us.

The Rec Center has many classes to offer includingZumba, Pilates, Yoga, Piloxing, Aqua Aerobics, Indoor Cycle, and Group Power to name a few. 2 Ball Competition

Friday February 17
Show off your basketball shooting skills on a 2- person team while competing against your peers
on Friday, February 17! Teams can consist of Boys, Girls, Co-ed, or Adult/Child for each age
division. The event is free and open to anyone.

March

Easter Egg-Xpress

Saturday March 31
All Aboard!! Take the Easter Egg-Xpress to go see the Easter Bunny and hunt for Easter eggs.
Each child will get a chance to meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs. A small snack and
drink will be served in Naperville. The train will depart from the Aurora Metra train station and
go to Naperville. In Naperville will walk to a local park and meet the Easter Bunny and begin our
hunt for eggs. Your will return to the Aurora station. Please dress for the weather. Also there
is a parking charge (exact change needed) at the Aurora Metra Train Station. Metra passes are not
accepted on this trip. Everyone in a family planning on attending must register.

Music Under the Stars

Enjoy a warm summer evening listening to great music in Yorkville's Town Square. Sponsored by the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department, this long-standing event offers a variety of music throughout the summer including Jazz, Rock, Big Band, Reggae, and much more! Wine Nights Information
Hosted by the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department and Fox Valley Winery Back by popular demand! Once again we will be offering Wine and Music on three selected evenings during Music Under the Stars. Bring a
lawn chair, your dinner and kick back with a classic glass of wine and great music. Fox Valley Winery will offer two to three different red and white wines during the evening. For $5 you will receive a souvenir glass. Wine Tasting tickets may be purchased for $1. Additional glasses of wine are $4 each. Bottles may be purchased
(prices may vary). You must be 21 to consume or purchase alcohol. No wine will be allowed to leave the park. For more information go to www.foxvalleywinery.com.

Movie Night

Yorkville's Parks and Recreation Movie nights in July and August, Beecher Community Park, 908 Game Farm Rd.

AUGUST

National Night Out

Tuesday, Aug. 7, 6-8 p.m. Town Square, Rt. 47

This national event dedicated to preventing crimes in our neighborhoods offers residents the opportunity to meet their neighbors and service personnel. Games, demonstrations, music, food and fun. Hosted by the Yorkville Police Department. For more information call 630.553.4340. Free.

SEPTEMBER

20th Annual Hometown Days Festival

Thursday, Aug. 30 through Sunday, Sept. 3 at Beecher Community Park, 908 Game Farm Rd.

It’s bigger and better than ever. Labor Day weekend, Thursday, Aug. 30 through Sunday, Sept. 3!! Fun for the entire family. Carnival rides, great food, the Pride and Joy Car Show, pet parade, baby contest, hometown pride, and much more! This year's musical entertainment includes Sixteen Candles on Friday night from 7:30 to 10 p.m., Mike and Joe on Saturday from 7-10 p.m., Yorkville Big Band from 2-4pm and the ever-popular hi-Infidelity from 7-10 p.m. on Sunday. Patriot’s Walk in Remembrance of 9/11
Yorkville, IL---Please join Mayor Golinski and citizens of Yorkville on Tuesday, September 11 in a Patriot’s Walk honoring those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.  The walk will begin at TBA at City Hall, 800 Game Farm Rd, and will follow the parade route to Town Square, 301 N. Bridge St.  The walk will be followed by a small ceremony with Mayor Golinski, the Legion, and the Yorkville Boy Scouts Troop 40.  Citizens who are interested in participating in the walk should meet at City Hall by TBA.  For more information, please contact the United City of Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department at 630-553-2582.

 

OCTOBER

Halloween Egg Hunt

Saturday, Oct. 20, 5-8 p.m. at
Beecher Community Park
908 Game Farm Rd.

Before the annual Egg Hunt, come out an enjoy hayrides, pumpkin decorating(1 per family), hot dogs(small fee) and more from 5-7pm. At 7pm we will start the annual Halloween Egg Hunt. It’s a twist on an old tradition. Sweet prizes await you! Wear your costumes, bring a flashlight and container for your eggs. Please stay on the sidewalks until we start the hunt! Toddlers will go first and every few minutes we will send the next group, ending with the oldest children. 10 eggs per child.
