Refuse rates

     The United City of Yorkville's refuse contractor is Advanced Disposal (formerly Veolia Environmental Services.) The refuse rate in the United City of Yorkville is $17.10 ($34.20/60 days) per single family or duplex unit. Per the city's contract with Veolia beginning May 1, 2012 the refuse rate will be $17.10 ($34.20/60 days). The senior citizen rate is .50 cents ($1 per billing cycle). Residents are billed on a two-month cycle. The minimum bill for a two-month period is $157.73. The minimum bill for a two-month period for Grande Reserve residents is $81.62. For senior citizens the two-month minimum utility bill is $124.53, except in Grande Reserve where the two-month minimum for senior citizens is $48.42..

     Under the city's refuse agreement with Advanced Disposal each residence is allowed to put out one 65-gallon Advanced Disposal refuse cart (green), one 65-gallon recycling cart (blue) and one large household item on the regular pick up day only (such as a couch, chair, or mattress) will be collected weekly without a pre-paid sticker. Carts are provided by Advanced Disposal. Residents may exchange their 65-gallon refuse cart for either a 35-gallon or 95-gallon refuse cart at an additional cost of $5/per month billed directly to the residents.

     All refuse should be placed out for collection by 6 a.m. on the designated collection day. Please note that Advanced Disposal has co-collect trucks that accommodate both refuse and recycling items. These trucks have separate compartments for these items and are not combining recycling items with refuse.
     A $1.00 pre-paid sticker is required for each bag or 32-gallon container outside the cart. Pre-paid refuse stickers are sold at the following locations: Ace Hardware - 9620 Route 34, Yorkville; Jewel-Osco, 234 Veterans Parkway, Yorkville; Pride Pantry, 302 Bridge Street, Yorkville; United City of Yorkville City Hall, 800 Game Farm Road, Yorkville.

Monday: S.E. of the river, S.W. of the river, Greenbriar, White Oak Estates, River's Edge, Prairie Gardens and Cornerstone

Tuesday: Country Hills, Crooked Creek, Fox Highlands, Raintree Village, Wildwood, Windett Ridge and Sunflower Estates

Wednesday: Countryside Center, Cimmeron Ridge, Fox Hill, Kylyn's, Whispering Meadows

Thursday: Autumn Creek, Blackberry Creek, Cannonball Estates, Grande Reserve, Prairie Meadows, Bristol Bay and Caledonia

Friday: Heartland, Longford Lakes, N.E. of the river south of Rt. 34, N.W. of the river south of Rt. 34.

Additional Guidelines:

Additional refuse containers may not exceed 32-gallons in size or 50 pounds in weight. Carpeting is considered a bulk item, however it must be cut and rolled in 4-foot lengths. Each roll must be tied and not weigh more than 50 pounds. Up to 4 rolls will be accepted as one bulk item. The following items will not be accepted during weekly collection:

• Construction/demolition materials
• Large automotive parts
• Tires
• White Goods (call for pick up options)
• Hazardous wastes (includes paints, oils, hot ash and flammable items
• Materials from foods, fires, evictions

Five easy ways to pay your utility bill

• By Mail: Mail your bill by the payment date to the United City of Yorkville, 800 Game Farm Road Yorkville, IL 60560
• Walk In: You can pay your utility bill before the payment date at City Hall, 800 Game Farm Road, between the hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. by cash or check.
• Drop Box: An after hours drop box is available for your convenience. The box is located under the flagpole before you enter City Hall. You can drop your bill in the drop box at your convenience before the payment date.
• Direct Debit Payment: Direct debit payment is auto-deducted from your checking or savings account on the day the bill is due. Applications are available at City Hall or on the Web site. Completed forms can be dropped off or mailed to City Hall: Attn: Judy Dyon, Utility Billing Clerk, United City of Yorkville, 800 Game Farm Road,Yorkville, IL 60560. • E-Pay: This Internet payment program is available through the state of Illinois to Yorkville residents. Payments can be made with the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and E-check. A user fee of $3.50 per transaction is added to the payment amount for the convenience of Internet service, however, the fee is not charged or collected by the city. White Goods pick up guidelines:

Advanced Disposal will conduct two White Goods pick ups, one in the spring and one in the fall. White Good items consist of refrigerators/freezers, water heaters, stoves, air conditioners, humidifiers, clothes dryers, washers, microwaves, dishwashers, heat pumps, furnaces and boilers. Please note that all White Goods items must be on the curb by 6:00 a.m. Only one pass will be made. The following materials will  not be accepted: auto parts, large construction waste, swimming pools, decks, sheds, chemicals, paints or drums.

Advanced Disposal holiday schedule:

Advanced Disposal will observe the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please note that service will be delayed one day following any of the holidays listed above.

Yard Waste pick up is April 1 to November 30 of every year:

• Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, flowers, twigs, brush and tree limbs less than 4 inches in diameter and not longer than 4 feet in length.
• Brush or branches are to be properly contained, bagged, or bundled and tied, so that one person can safely load it into the truck.
• Sod is not considered yard waste and should be disposed of as refuse.
• Yard waste must be placed in 33-gallon kraft papers bags designed for yard waste collection. These bags may be purchased at local retail stores.
• All yard waste material should be placed out for collection by 6:00 a.m. on the designated collection day.
• Brush and/or branches (less than 4 inches in diameter) must be cut into 4-foot lengths, bundled with string or twine and not exceed 50 pounds.
• Christmas trees will be collected free of charge during the first two weeks in January.
