The United City of Yorkville is divided into four wards. Below you can find out more about the Mayor, your aldermen and other elected officials.

Valerie Burd moved to Yorkville in 1988 from Bolingbrook, Ill. Since her arrival, she has been actively involved in city government. She was appointed to the City Council to fill a vacancy, serving one year; she has since been re-elected to two four-year terms and was elected Mayor of the United City of Yorkville in April of 2007. Mayor Burd looks forward to serving the United City of Yorkville residents.

She has had a life-long interest in government and has spent many years observing city council, and school and recreation boards as a newspaper reporter. During her many years of service on City Council she has served on many committees including as vice-chairman of the Economic Development Committee, city liaison to the Appearance Code Review Committee, liaison to the Aurora Convention and Visitors Bureau, and liaison to the Facade Committee.

Jackie Milschewski was elected as Yorkville's City Clerk in 2001 and re-elected in 2003 and 2007. She has lived in Yorkville since 1998 with her husband and three sons. Her children attend Yorkville schools and are active in youth baseball and football. Milschewski has participated in many city events along her responsibilities as City Clerk. She is employed by C.U.S.D. #115 as the principal's secretary at Grande Reserve Elementary School.

Elected in 2003 and re-elected in 2007 as the city Treasurer, Bill Powell's attention to detail, common sense, and his ability to work with people have been instrumental to the United City of Yorkville. While in office, the city has adopted both his investment policy and fund balance policy. He has also established electronic accounts with local banks and Illinois Funds. In addition, Powell has spearheaded a strategy to improve the rate of return on city funds. Prior to his term as Yorkville's treasurer, Powell retired from Commonwealth Edison where he was a department head in Operations. He also served three years on the Rockford Planning Commission.
