Parks and Recreation Special Events

The United City of Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department is active in sponsoring several special events throughout the year for the enjoyment of Yorkville residents and surrounding communities. Join us for one, two or all of the many activities in the city of Yorkville. There are months of fun in Yorkville for you and your family. Artists are currently needed for the Art in City Hall Program. All artwork is exhibited in Yorkville's City Hall Council Chambers. Exhibits are free to artists and residents. Music Under the Stars

Friday or Saturday evenings in June, July and August from 7-9 p.m. in Town Square, Rt. 47 and Main Street.

Enjoy a warm summer evening listening to great music in Yorkville's Town Square. Sponsored by the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department, this long-standing event offers a variety of music throughout the summer including Jazz, Rock, Big Band and much more! Wine Nights Information
Hosted by the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department and Cobblestone. Back by popular demand! Once again we will be offering Wine and Music on three selected evenings during Music Under the Stars. Bring a lawn chair, your dinner and kick back with a classic glass of wine and great music. Cobblestone will offer two to three different red and white wines during the evening. For $5 you will receive a souvenir glass. Wine Tasting tickets may be purchased for $1. Additional glasses of wine are $5 each. Bottles may be purchased (prices may vary). You must be 21 to consume or purchase alcohol. No wine will be allowed to leave the park.

58th Annual 4th of July Celebration

Hosted by the Yorkville Area 4th of July Committee and the United City of Yorkville

Schedule of Events
Parade:
- Parade line up at Yorkville High School is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- Parade will start at 9:00 a.m.
- Parade route as follows: Game Farm Road, Somonauk Street,
King Street, West Main Street, Church Street. Will end at the
water tower.
Town Square Park Activites:
- Following the Parade @ Town Square Park till 1pm
- Food/Drink will be available for purchase.
- Kids Foot Races, rides and waterfights Yorkville Community
Band
Fireworks will begin at Dusk
- The fireworks will be shot off of/around Rt. 47 and
Countryside Parkway. Just south of Menards.
- The Yorkville Big Band will be performing at 7:00 p.m. at
Larson-Nelson Funeral Home
Additional Information
- All 4th of July activities are free to everyone, except food/
drink purchases and are subject to change without notice
- Donations are welcome. Checks can be made out and
mailed to: United City of Yorkville, 800 Game Farm Rd.,
Yorkville, IL 60560. Please write ''4th of July'' in the memo
line. All donations are tax deductible.

Illinois Whitewater Festival

Saturday July 13

On the east end of Bicentennial Riverfront Park come for a day of whitewater fun! Events will include whitewater kayak mini-lessons, rafting challenges, kayak biathalon, and a boat regatta from 10am-6pm.

This national event dedicated to preventing crimes in our neighborhoods offers residents the opportunity to meet their neighbors and service personnel. Games, demonstrations, music, food and fun. Hosted by the Yorkville Police Department. For more information call 630.553.4340. Free.

OCTOBER

Halloween Egg Hunt

Friday, Oct. 25, 5-8 p.m. at Beecher Community Park, 908 Game Farm Rd.

Sponsored by: Rosati's Pizza of Yorkville
Before the annual Egg Hunt, come out an enjoy hayrides, pumpkin decorating (1 per family), pizza slices (small fee - Rosati's), "HOWL"ween pet contest and more from 5-8pm. At 8pm we will start the annual Halloween Egg Hunt. It’s a twist on an old tradition. Sweet prizes await you! Wear your costumes, bring a flashlight and container for your eggs. Please stay on the sidewalks until we start the hunt! Toddlers will go first and every few minutes we will send the next group, ending with the oldest children. 10 eggs per child.

Holiday Under the Stars & Fireworks Show

We're kicking off the holiday season this year with a traditional tree lighting ceremony, food, holiday fun
activites, Santa’s workshop with a visit from Santa and to the end the evening with a holiday fireworks show on Saturday Nov. 23. This is one holiday event you surely won't want to miss! This year's seventh annual Holiday Under the Stars is bigger and better than ever. The Kris Kringle Market--a variety of kiosks featuring crafts, gifts, holiday items and more to get you started with your holiday shopping. Vendor booth space is available for $25 all evening long! Gear up for the Thanksgiving season with the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department's 5K Run/Walk. Warm up after the race with a hot bowl of chili. Pre-registration fee: $25 w/shirt; $20 w/out shirt Day of Registration fee: $35 w/shirt; $30 w/out shirt. The proceeds benefit the Parks and Recreation special recreation programs.
