Aurora Area Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (AACVB)

The United City of Yorkville supports the marketing and promotional efforts of the Aurora Area Convention and Visitors’ Bureau. Formed in 1987, the Aurora Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (AACVB) is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and marketing the area as a premier overnight destination. The goal of the AACVB is to enhance the economic and environmental well-being of our region comprised of ten communities: Aurora, Batavia, Big Rock, Hinckley, Montgomery, North Aurora, Plano, Sandwich, Sugar Grove and Yorkville. Fox River
Known as the city with a “river in its heart” the Fox River continues to be an anchor and cornerstone for Yorkville’s many recreational activities such as canoeing, kayaking and picnicking. Coming in the summer of 2010 Yorkville's Fox River will be home to a new Whitewater Park giving recreational and avid canoers and kayakers access to a new canoe chute-a great whitewater experience!

     Additional recreational facilities include the Hoover Education Center, Silver Springs State Park and the Kendall County Fairgrounds. The city of Yorkville boasts over 40 area parks and playgrounds. In addition, Yorkville’s picturesque countryside is a haven for cycling enthusiasts everywhere!

The new Dreyer Medical Clinic - Yorkville office is located in a newly-constructed building shared with Provena Mercy Medical Center at 1500 Sycamore Road, on the far west side of the city at the southeast corner of Route 34 and Sycamore Road, west of Cannonball Trail and east of Eldamain Road.

The new Rush-Copley Medical Center offers many services to Yorkville residents including Convenient Care,
Occupational Health Services and Diagnostic Services. Rush-Copley received state approval this winter to begin to build a new emergency center at this location.

Valley West is an affiliate of the KishHealth System and offers acute primary hospital care for all ages with state-of-the-art technology in diagnostic and surgical services for both inpatients and outpatients. Valley West also offers a variety of preventative classes and programs, in addition to the Rehabilitation Center in Yorkville.

Expressways and Thoroughfares
      The United City of Yorkville is located approximately 50 miles west of Chicago and easily accessible from all directions. The intersections of Illinois Highways 34, 47, 71 and 126, plus access to I-88 to the north, I-80 to the south and I-55 to the east has made Yorkville an excellent location for new residential and commercial development. Route 47 is the major thoroughfare and runs through the City’s downtown area.

United City of Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department

The United City of Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for creating over 40 truly unique theme parks throughout the city including Gilbert Park, Grande Reserve Regional Park, Cannonball Park, Sunflower Park and River’s Edge Park II. In addition to its many classes and programs for kids and adults, Parks and Recreation also offers Parker’s Playtime Pre-School, basketball and soccer leagues, outdoor movies, Music Under the Stars and much more!
Recreation Leagues and Associations
The City’s Parks and Recreation Department works with many youth organizations including the Genesis Soccer Club, Travel Soccer Team, Youth Baseball and Softball Association, Youth Football/Cheerleading Association, and the Yorkville Youth Wrestling club.

Community events are hosted by the United City of Yorkville’s Parks and Recreation Department, the Community Relations Department and in partnership with organizations such as the Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation and include the Hometown Days Festival, Holiday Under the Stars, Theater in the Park, Music Under the Stars, Movie Night, Art in City Hall, Halloween Egg Hunt, Halloween Walk, Annual Fourth of July Celebration, National Night Out and much more!
