During the November 2016 Election, Yorkville residents will have the opportunity to vote on three different questions. Below is an overview of the three questions as labeled on the right.
1. City Clerk Question
This question asks if you would like to eliminate the position of City Clerk have the duties be passed on to the Deputy City Clerk. This would result in a cost savings to the City. If passed it will not be effective until the end of the term for the current City Clerk in 2019.
2. Treasurer Question
This question asks if you would like to eliminate the position of City Treasurer and have the duties be passed on to the Finance Director. This would result in a cost savings to the City. If passed the position which is up for reelection in April 2017 would not be included on the ballot.
This question asks if you would like to like the United City of Yorkville to become a home-rule unit of government. Home rule shifts greater responsibility and authority for local government decision making from the state level to the local level.
