News Flash!

The following is a press release from the Kendall County Emergency Mangement Agency:

Kendall County Residents and Businesses to Report Flood Damage to the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency

Residents & businesses are asked to report damage to the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency

Last Thursday, April 18th, Kendall County experienced an extremely high amount of rainfall and localized flooding issues. In addition many homes have experienced basement flooding and property damage.

Kendall County is participating with the State of Illinois to conduct an initial damage assessment to determine if federal financial assistance is available. We request that Kendall County residents and businesses who had flooding or received damage due to the rain storm and flooding on April 17 & 18, call the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency. You’ll be asked to provide the following information:

Address & apartment/unit number (if applicable)
Whether the property is a single family, multifamily, mobile home, or business
Whether you own or rent the property
The peak depth of flooding in the basement
The peak depth of flooding on the 1st floor
Whether or not the basement is a living area (finished)
Insurance information: Homeowners, Renters, or Flood
Whether or not there was any structural damage
The cause of the flooding (river, sump pump failure, or sewer backup)

There is no guarantee of federal financial assistance being made available, but collecting this data is the first step toward determining if Kendall County and the State of Illinois are eligible.

Please call (630) 553-4500 by Tuesday, April 30th at 4:30 p.m. if you had flooding and/or damage due to the storm.

For residents that had flooding, we recommend that you remove flood damaged carpet, furniture, drywall, etc. as soon as possible to prevent the spread of bacteria and harmful mold.
